My path into software architecture and technical problem-solving isn't your traditional corporate story. It spans over two decades, multiple industries, and several cross-continent moves.

Scribe Designs started back in Louisiana while I was studying at Sowela Technical College. Although it was originally envisioned as a partnership, a sudden shift in my co-founder's direction meant I took the reins solo right out of the gate. That early pivot taught me how to build and scale a technology business entirely on my own terms.

Over the years, Scribe Designs has evolved into a collaborative hub. While operating primarily as a sole proprietorship, I have always valued teamwork and mentorship. I've frequently brought in specialized talent - such as collaborating with Bayou Technologies on site artwork and commissioning custom graphics for community projects like the Calcasieu Women's Shelter. I've also taken pride in mentoring aspiring developers, including hiring and teaching full-time employees and helping launch them into a thriving careers in programming and/or software management.

My early technical roots in Louisiana included balancing local development work with early roles at US-Unwired, alongside a long-standing commitment to pro-bono technical support for local agencies like the Calcasieu Women's Shelter and the Family & Youth Counseling Agency.

Life - and a wonderful chance airplane encounter - opened the door to the next major chapter of my career. On a flight from Louisiana to British Columbia to join my partner, I sat next to a dentist working with Exan Group who happened to show me their enterprise dental software. Two years later, when I interviewed with Exan in BC, I instantly recognized the application from that stranger's laptop. That serendipitous start led me deep into the dental healthcare tech industry, opening doors to manage complex national standards like the ADA's SNODENT codeset and intricate clinical environments for the University of Colorado - including building advanced custom internal reporting suites, implementing Meaningful Use standards, and architecting complex accreditation reporting that exceeded standard industry benchmarks.

As my partner's career took us from British Columbia down to Florida, then to Ontario, and eventually to Port Coquitlam, BC, my work adapted seamlessly. Working remotely and hybrid across these geographic shifts taught me how to drop into existing team ecosystems, grasp the big picture quickly, and build self-sustaining technical frameworks.

My approach to engineering is straightforward: look at the big picture first, understand where the client actually needs to go, and design the solution down to the smaller details to prevent fires before they start. I am a firm believer in thorough documentation and knowledge sharing. In fact, my professional philosophy is to build solutions so robust, complete, and maintainable that they don't require constant oversight. It's the ultimate sign of a successful project, and it keeps me always looking forward to the next complex challenge.
